What to Expect from a 15-Day Yoga Teacher Training Intensive
June 6, 2026
A 15-day yoga teacher training intensive is not a retreat. It's not a vacation. It's a full-time immersion that will challenge you physically, mentally, and emotionally. Here's what actually happens day by day.
Before You Arrive: The 100 Hours Online
Our 200-hour programme starts before you land in Portugal. The 100 hours of online pre-study covers anatomy, philosophy, and the foundations of sequencing. You work through modules at your own pace, submit assignments, and arrive with the theory already in place.
This means when you get to Lagos, you're not learning basics — you're applying them. The live portion is pure practice, teaching, and refinement.
A Typical Day in the Intensive
Days are long and structured. Here's the rhythm:
07:00 — Morning Practice
90-minute guided Vinyasa practice. This is your laboratory. You'll experience the sequences you're learning to teach.
09:00 — Breakfast Break
Light breakfast, journaling, or a walk to the beach. Most students grab a coffee and review notes.
10:00 — Teaching Methodology
Sequencing, cueing, adjustments, and classroom management. This is the core teaching block.
13:00 — Lunch
Break for food. Many students explore Lagos cafes or pack a lunch.
14:30 — Anatomy or Philosophy
Deep dive into functional anatomy or yoga philosophy. Applied, not theoretical.
16:30 — Practicum
You teach. Small groups, peer feedback, and supervised practice.
18:00 — Evening Practice or Rest
Sometimes a gentle practice. Sometimes free time. Rest is part of the training.
19:30 — Dinner + Free Time
Explore Lagos, study, or recover. Sleep is critical — you'll need it.
Week 1 vs. Week 2
Week 1 is about building foundations. You learn the sequencing framework, practice teaching basic sequences, and start to find your voice. The first few days are overwhelming — everyone feels it. That's normal.
Week 2 is where transformation happens. You're teaching longer sequences, receiving detailed feedback, and adjusting in real time. By day 10, most students have their first "aha" moment — the moment teaching clicks.
The Challenges Nobody Warns You About
- Your body will be tired. Two practices a day plus standing and teaching is exhausting. Sleep more than you think you need.
- You'll doubt yourself. Every student has a moment where they think they can't do it. Push through. The doubt passes.
- Feedback is direct. We don't coddle. If your sequencing is weak, we'll tell you. It's how you improve.
- Group dynamics are real. 15 days with the same people creates bonds — and friction. Both are part of the experience.
What You Leave With
By the end of 15 days, you will have:
- Taught at least 5 full sequences to real people
- Received written feedback on every teach-back
- Built a personal sequence library you can use immediately
- Passed anatomy and philosophy assessments
- Met a group of peers who will be in your network for years
- A certificate qualifying you for RYT200 registration
Is 15 Days Enough?
Yes — combined with the 100 hours of online pre-study. The 200-hour standard is about total contact hours, not consecutive days. Our hybrid model (100 online + 100 live) means you arrive prepared and leave transformed. The 15 days are intensive, but they're the right length for immersion without burnout.
