200-Hour Curriculum

What you actually learn. Not just theory — practical skills you can use in your first class.

Programme Structure

The 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training is split into two phases:

  • 100 hours online — Pre-study at your own pace before arriving in Portugal
  • 100 hours live — Intensive in-person training in Lagos, September 27 - October 12, 2026

Module 1: Vinyasa Sequencing & Class Design

This is the core of the training. You learn how to build classes that make sense — not just follow a template. We cover:

  • The arc of a Vinyasa class: warm-up, peak, cool-down
  • Peak pose selection and preparation
  • Transitions that flow and transitions that teach
  • Modifications for different levels and bodies
  • Theme integration: how to teach a concept, not just poses
  • Music and rhythm: timing your sequences to breath

Hours: 40 hours online + 30 hours live

Module 2: Functional Anatomy

Not memorization. Understanding. You learn the anatomy that matters for teaching — the muscles, joints, and movement patterns that show up in every class.

  • Skeletal system and major joints
  • Muscle groups in action: what contracts, what lengthens
  • Common injuries and contraindications
  • Reading bodies: how to see alignment, not just shapes
  • The nervous system: breath, stress, and the relaxation response

Hours: 20 hours online + 15 hours live

Module 3: Teaching Methodology

Being a good yogi and being a good teacher are different skills. This module closes the gap.

  • Voice, tone, and pacing
  • Instruction types: action cues, alignment cues, breath cues
  • Classroom management: late arrivals, injuries, energy shifts
  • Hands-on adjustments: when, how, and when not to
  • Demo vs. teaching: when to show, when to watch
  • Building confidence as a new teacher

Hours: 15 hours online + 20 hours live

Module 4: Philosophy & Ethics

Yoga is more than movement. This module grounds your teaching in the tradition while keeping it relevant to modern students.

  • History of yoga: key texts and lineages
  • The Yoga Sutras: practical application, not just theory
  • Ethics for yoga teachers: boundaries, consent, scope of practice
  • Business basics: getting started as a teacher

Hours: 15 hours online + 10 hours live

Module 5: Practicum

This is where you become a teacher. You stand up, you teach, you get feedback, and you do it again.

  • Teaching small groups under supervision
  • Peer teaching and feedback loops
  • Full class teach-backs with written feedback
  • Adjusting to real students, not just memorized scripts

Hours: 10 hours live (all in-person)

Module 6: Self-Practice

You can't teach what you don't practice. Throughout the training, you maintain a daily self-practice that evolves as you learn.

  • Morning practice sessions during live training
  • Journaling and reflection on your own teaching
  • Developing a personal sequence library

Hours: 20 hours (integrated throughout)
